Almost everyone in the world right now are crazy over the idea of DIY aka making your own version of services or products that are usually done by most professionals. One of the favorites by a lot of people are making their own flower arrangements. One’s creativity will really show up in designing a flower arrangement but not everyone knows the proper way in making one. Sure you can do anything since it’s your own flower arrangement but you got to take into consideration the fact that a flower arrangement should not look cluttered and it must also last for a long period of time.
Here are the common mistakes that people are doing, hence, the five things you should avoid when doing your own flower arrangement:
- Scotch Tape
Most of us are fond of using scotch tape whenever something gets broken in order to be fixed again. Here’s the catch, it’s not really that reliable. Some scotch tapes doesn’t really hold that much that’s why a good alternative for this is either packaging tape or electrical tape. Whether you are using the tape to stick your DIY flower name on your vase or whatnot, packaging tape or electrical tape will be helpful.
- Glitters
You sure you want a shiny and shimmering vase for your flower arrangement? Well, it’s up to you. But just one tip: lessen the glitters and use more of ribbons or colored papers that can be bought in the market. Glitters is kinda dangerous especially to the eyes. Although glitters is one of the famous materials being used for flower arrangements, you should still go for the ones that are more long-lasting and efficient.
- Newspapers
Newspaper are commonly used by people who are on a tight budget. In decorating their flower vase, they tend to cover it with old newspapers and start painting it with any color they like. Basically, they use the newspaper as a base for their vase. But you no longer have to do that. You can actually directly paint on your flower vase especially if your vase is color white. Saves you time and materials!
- Glue Stick
Never ever use glue stick. It’s not as sticky as the normal glue. It may be cheaper and handy but not everything that is cheap is good in quality. Remember, you want a flower arrangement that would last for a long period of time. You don’t just stick around your decorations to your vase and leave it like that. You have to think of its longevity.
- Micro Flowers
If you are doing your own flower arrangement, why settle for small and tiny flowers when you can go for the big ones? Flower arrangements are supposed to be grand and supreme and it would be best if you could use big roses, sunflowers, lilies and etc. It’s not bad to mix it together with micro flowers though but the main focus should still be on the big flowers.
- Big Ribbons
There is really nothing wrong with using big ribbons but sometimes, it overpowers the effect of the beauty of the flower arrangement. You don’t want your flower arrangement to look like a gift. If you really wanna put some ribbon on your flower vase then you better consider using small ribbons rather than big ribbons. If you only have big ribbons with you, cut them into two.
