How to Avoid Stress When Moving House?

Anyone who has ever moved house will certainly tell you that the relocation process is far from stress-free. It doesn’t matter how old you are, how much you are packing or if you are moving by yourself or with an entire family. Moving is just hard! When you start thinking about all the packing, unpacking, transporting

finding a moving company, and what not, it all adds up. However, we are not saying that stress is inevitable. Quite the opposite. With our helpful advice, you will be able to avoid stress when moving a house. Keep on reading for some useful tips and tricks and you will have no trouble dealing with stress.

Start Planning Your Move Early

This one is the most important rules of moving. As soon as you decide on your moving date, it is time to start planning for it. Even if it is months ahead, you should start looking for moving companies at least. Moreover, you should have a family meeting if, of course, you are moving with your entire household. Discuss the details of the move. Try to answer all the possible questions your children may have. Also, it is a good time to start looking for a new house, whether you are moving abroad or just around the corner. It is important to know the right dimensions of your new place so that you can know how much to pack. These are just some of the things you need to consider in order to avoid stress when moving house and possibly save some money while moving.

It is Time for Cleaning and Decluttering

Another thing you have to do before the moving day and the moving company arrive is to clean and declutter your household. Nobody likes this part of the job, but somebody has to do it, right? Luckily, we are here to help you out. So, first things first, you should declutter your entire house. And that also includes the basement, the garage, and the attic as well as all the other rooms. While doing that, you can also sort out your belongings and prepare them for packing. Remember to have a lot of boxes and the packing materials by your side. For example, you can sort your things in different boxes, like:

  • Keep box – This can be the box used for storing the things you will be taking with you to your new place. It does not have to be just one box, you should prepare many of them. Pack all the things you will not need before you move out. This will save you an enormous amount of time when packing.
  • Give Away Box – If you have some things that you think you will never need again, but they are in good shape, call your family members and friends and see if anybody would like them.
  • Donate Box – If, however, none of your friends want your stuff, think about donating it to a local charitable organization.
  • Throw Away Box – So, if you have something that is broken or completely unusable, let it hit the bin! You do not need to bring extra clutter with you to your new home.

Exercise and encourage your family to exercise

The best way to deal with any kind of stress is to exercise daily. Do not try stopping during the process of relocation. That is when you need it the most. Make sure to make some time for exercise. Anything from doing yoga to jogging will do the work. We all know how stressful moving can be, so do your best to avoid that stress in a natural way. Also, do not forget to include your entire family in this activity. You will see that if children exercise they will be both happier and healthier. You can make this a family activity. Just an hour a day will be enough. You can play catch, go running in the park or do anything that you and your family enjoy.

Be Healthy! Eat Well!

When moving, people focus all of their time and energy on moving. And, in most cases, they forget about what is truly important – being healthy! Usually, there is no time for cooking healthy dishes and exercising. That is why both children and adults start feeling ill. So, forget about ordering pizza, and make a healthy spinach and avocado salad. Cooking healthy meals is not hard. Luckily, we live in times when you can find any recipe online. So, why not take advantage of that?
