This may sound boring, but surely even the biggest extroverts and lovers of outdoor activities can find something to occupy their time inside. With that in mind, we have prepared our list of 5 great activities for those living in Las Vegas during a state of emergency. The people of Las Vegas – read on!
#1 Working out
Even though you will be spending the majority of your time indoors, this does not mean that you will, necessarily, have to get out of shape. Of course, working out or playing sports is very important for both our physical and mental well being. A wise person once said that, when the body is weak, the mind is weary. And in stressful times, your body will stand a much better chance at defending itself if you do what you can to keep it in great shape.
Therefore, it is important to remember that working out is one of the most useful activities for those living in Las Vegas during a state of emergency. Even though you cannot work with a personal trainer who will be standing right next to you, there are reliable trainers who will instruct you on the internet. What’s more, you can also find lots of excellent training and dietary regimes online. For many good exercises, you don’t need any training equipment. So, there’s no excuse to stop exercising; on the contrary, exercise is encouraged now more than ever!
#2 Pass the time with art
Without art, life can turn into a dour affair. Sure, there are plenty of more important things in life – one’s health, job, family, etc. Spending time outdoors, working out or playing sports is very important for both our physical and mental well being. However, art can broaden one’s intellectual and spiritual horizons, help you understand the world and yourself better, and paint one’s existence in unusual colors. Or, simply, it can be a very fun way to pass the time.
Unfortunately, there often isn’t enough time to spend on books, films, music, etc. That’s why art is among the top 5 pastime activities for those living in Las Vegas during a state of emergency. Yes, a state of emergency is not pleasant, but at least it provides you with plenty of free time. You’ve been meaning to read an interesting book or see a good movie for quite a while now, but you never got around to it? Well, now is your chance!
#3 Take up a new, exciting hobby
Similarly, there are usually many things we’d like to do, but life, sadly, gets in the way. With work and family-related obligations, days pass quickly and, when the evening comes, you are simply too tired to do anything else except go to sleep. Perhaps you wanted to learn another language, improve your cooking skills, or make something in your tool shed?
Now is the right time! The necessity to stay indoors is not overly enjoyable, but it does have its good side. And that is – lots of free time! So, take up one of the hobbies you have been meaning to try. Not only will you get to enjoy yourself and extend your skill-set, but you will also at least learn the basics, making it much easier for you to keep improving even after the state of emergency is over.
#4 Family activities for those living in Las Vegas during a state of emergency
While it is not recommended that you hang out with your friends in these troublesome times, your family is always there for you. Perhaps you were too busy with work to put aside enough time for your kids? While they will not be able to spend time outside, they will certainly appreciate spending time with you. Now is your opportunity to bond with your children. No matter the kind of relationship you had before, you can certainly make it even better!
Think about what you can do together with your family. We mentioned art and newfound hobbies. Well, perhaps you could organize a movie marathon or even work on the same project together? Or, perhaps, you can find a board game that the entire family will enjoy playing. The possibilities are, unquestionably, endless!
#5 Going on a holiday to a remote location
In the state of emergency, mixing with other people outside your immediate family is frowned upon (and rightfully so). So, no bars, no parties, no shopping malls. Traveling to other, busy cities and popular tourist destinations is also not recommended. However, traveling to a remote, isolated (but still beautiful) location outside of the city can actually be great for your health in the time of the pandemic. People who own a private cottage, country house or another kind of resort outside Las Vegas are more likely to stay healthy if they temporarily relocate there. With no people in sight, there is no risk of contagion.
However, packing and shipping your belongings can be tricky, especially if you have a large family and lots of things to transport. Moving out of the city with ease, on the other hand, is possible with the help of qualified professionals. They will help ship your belongings easily, which will definitely come in handy, especially if you do not own a large moving vehicle such as a truck.
For maximum safety, we suggest you take out the packed boxes in front of your home and then wait inside while the movers load the boxes and take off. Only then should you enter your own vehicle and drive to your destination. Perform a similar procedure once you arrive in order to avoid any contact. The movers should unload the boxes and then leave. Only then should you leave the vehicle and move the boxes inside the house. Also, be sure to disinfect the boxes with alcohol afterward. After that, you are ready to enjoy some springtime, risk-free peace and quiet!
To conclude
With these 5 pastime activities for those living in Las Vegas during a state of emergency, you should be able to pleasantly occupy your time and perhaps even appreciate the opportunity to take up some of the activities you normally couldn’t. Even if you are desperate for things to return to normal, the situation is what it is. Try to make the most of it. And most importantly – take the emergency state seriously and do what you can to stay safe!
